Most of internet application is web access (http protocol), and sometimes it need to be cache to save and control the access. Most of Internet Service Provider (ISPs) uses this device adapted with Router and WCCP protocol to saving their bandwidth. Called as a transparent Web Cache because there is no need to change at user browser application.
If needed, it also can be used as a traditional proxy.
Cache+ use WCCP (Web Cache Communication Protocol) as communication protocol with Router (mostly Cisco Router)
to deliver transparent web cache. A big different with 'transparent gateway' (web proxy also as an internet gateway)
is this method will boost your speed, reduce latency and no downtime. It means if your
proxy failed to load, WCCP will be disconnected and existing router will overlook caching process.
This Method will be very usefull if combined with access control to manage your internet access.

So every HTTP access will reqire a correct username and password to validate.
